The Novel is Plodding Along
Mike is being an asswipe again and doing his Hitleresque "my way or the highway" move. But little does he know... I'm ahead! Bwahahaha! My calendar is posted below.
Actually, this exercise with my grandfather is an exercise on how to be patient. But since he learned that Mike gave me an ultimatum, he's stepped up the pace. He said he'd hate it if he was the cause of his granddaughter's unhappiness and not finding love. Damn! What a great guy! But he says he think Mike's an asswipe too and that I shouldn't be with a man who doesn't have patience and doesn't understand the creative process. Go lolo!
I learned a lot about how to deal with old people and information gathering. Because my lolo has a tendency to meander away from the main topic, I had to resort to using questionaires to keep him in line. Also, I printed out a visual representation of our family 6 pages long taped from one end to the other. I'm missing some people too, he said.
Also, he was telling me a lot of backstories about people, their extramarital affairs, and the children sired from those affairs. One of my uncles, don't even get me started on this one, said that I shouldn't even tell the bad parts and just "make it up" so that they don't sue us for slander or whatnot. I was aghast! WTF? I'm not just going to "make up" shit so that people will be depicted in a positive light when in reality they were fucktards!? I'm writing a biography here! Not science fiction!
But I told my lolo that the backstories he told me really don't have anything to do with him specifically so I will omit them anyway. But I can't wait until I'm in Generation 1 so I can tell dirty stories about dead people. Needless to say, the juicy backstories will, I swear to you all, become Volume 2 of my novel. :)
Paula's Generation Breakdown:
Generation 1: My lolo's generation. He's my source of info now. My lolo's dad would be Generation 0 and my GG-Grandparents are Generation -1. Make sense?
Generation 2: My mom's generation.
Generation 3: My generation.
Generation 4: My (future) kids and the generation for my cousin's kids. Currently, there are about 7 members of Generation 4 in the world.
